About

“Want to eat white rice and catfish,

Want to wear good traditional hat, visit Chuong village”

With the story of beautiful traditional hats made in Chuong village, this week we will bring you from Thanh Oai to Bac Ninh. We will make a conical hat. Bamboo frames from Chuong village – Thanh Oai will not be covered with leaves but with Do papers with 800 years of history which embeded with many interesting stories of traditional craft villages.

To make a conical hat, it requires such a refined, meticulous, detailed and patient process of art work by hat makers to shape the hats round, small, smooth; to select thin, ivory-white, silky leaves; to ensure that every seam is short and has equal distance, which hides connection points. All together creates such a lovely conical hat.

WHAT WILL YOU HAVE AT “Do paper Vietnamese Traditional Hat Making Workshop”?

- Listen to Chuong village's traditional hat making craft stories

- Get familiar with hat making tools & materials and learn traditional hat making steps

GIU Social Enterprise (Giu.vn) offers international travelers the opportunity to experience authentic Vietnamese tradition and the chance for locals to reconnect with their own culture. Through a variety of interactive workshops and events, we seek to demonstrate the beauty of Vietnamese art, culture, and history and the benefits it can have for the younger generation. Our tours, craft workshops, and community engagement events seek to foster inclusion to those visiting Vietnam and instill a renewed pride for locals who have lost intimate connection with their traditional values.
